Moving core banking off the mainframe, one domain at a time

Situation
A bank runs payments, accounts and lending on a mainframe that cannot support the APIs its digital products and regulatory reporting now need. A single cutover is out of the question because the system cannot go down.
Approach
We build cloud services for one banking domain at a time alongside the legacy system, starting with the lowest-risk domain. Transactions move to each new service only after it has run in parallel with real-time reconciliation against the mainframe. Resilience and audit controls are designed in from the start so regulators see the same evidence trail throughout.
Outcome
The bank retires the mainframe in stages instead of in one risky weekend, and each new domain is available to digital channels through documented APIs as soon as it is live.

Cutting false alerts in anti-money laundering monitoring

Situation
A bank's threshold-based AML rules flag huge numbers of transactions, nearly all of them false positives. Analysts spend their days clearing noise while layering and shell company patterns slip through.
Approach
We model the transaction network as a graph so the system can see relationships between accounts that single-transaction rules miss. Alerts are scored and ranked for analysts, and a drafting assistant prepares suspicious activity report narratives for an analyst to review and sign. Every model decision is logged for examiners.
Outcome
Analysts work a shorter, better-ranked queue, spend less time writing up cases, and can show examiners why each alert was raised or closed.

Staffing a regulatory remediation programme against a fixed deadline

Situation
After an examination finding, a financial institution has a fixed date to fix its compliance technology. Its own recruiters cannot find engineers and analysts who understand both the systems and the regulation in time.
Approach
We define each role with the programme and compliance leads, then source people with regulatory reporting, risk engine and data lineage experience. Every candidate is identity-checked and technically assessed before submission. Placed staff work inside the bank's existing governance, access controls and reporting.
Outcome
The programme is staffed with verified people in time to meet its milestones, with a complete record of who was placed and how they were checked, ready for the auditors.

Replacing point-to-point clinical interfaces with a FHIR layer

Situation
A health system connects its EHR, lab, imaging, pharmacy and billing systems through hundreds of HL7 v2 point-to-point interfaces. Each new app or partner means another custom interface, and failures are hard to trace.
Approach
We design an integration layer with FHIR R4 as the common standard and move interfaces onto it in order of clinical risk. Clinical events trigger administrative workflows such as scheduling and billing through the same layer. Access is logged and controlled to HIPAA requirements.
Outcome
New systems connect through one governed layer instead of new custom interfaces, and the integration team can see and fix failures before they reach clinicians.

A cloud migration that keeps GxP validation intact

Situation
A pharmaceutical company wants to move quality and manufacturing systems to the cloud. An earlier attempt copied on-premise controls into the cloud and left an expensive hybrid that satisfied neither IT nor quality assurance.
Approach
We treat 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11 and HIPAA requirements as design constraints from the first architecture decision. Infrastructure is defined as code so installation and operational qualification can be repeated and evidenced automatically. Quality assurance reviews each stage before systems move.
Outcome
The validated systems run in the cloud with audit trails and compliance evidence produced as part of normal operation, rather than assembled by hand before each inspection.

Finding safety signals in adverse event reports sooner

Situation
A drug safety team reviews adverse event reports by hand and looks for signals on a quarterly cycle. Volumes keep growing, and a missed signal carries regulatory and patient risk.
Approach
We build a pipeline that reads MedDRA-coded case reports and public sources such as FAERS, applies language models to unstructured narratives, and flags unusual patterns for safety physicians to review. Every flag links back to the source cases so reviewers can check the reasoning.
Outcome
Safety physicians see emerging signals continuously instead of once a quarter, and spend their time on medical judgment rather than sorting reports.

Spotting network faults before customers call

Situation
An operator's network operations centre watches far more radio, transport and core metrics than people can follow. Most major incidents are found after customers start complaining, and root cause analysis is manual.
Approach
We apply anomaly detection to network telemetry and correlate anomalies across layers to suggest a likely root cause. Low-risk fixes, such as parameter changes or traffic rerouting, run automatically under agreed rules, and everything else goes to an engineer with the evidence attached.
Outcome
The operations centre catches more faults before customers notice them and resolves major incidents faster because engineers start from a likely cause.

A virtual agent that can actually change a customer's plan

Situation
Most of a carrier's care contacts are about bills, plan changes and device set-up. Its existing chatbot can only answer questions, so customers end up waiting for an agent anyway.
Approach
We connect a conversational agent to the BSS so it can read account data and complete routine changes such as plan swaps, with customer confirmation. Complex or sensitive cases pass to a human agent with the full conversation and account context. We redesign the care process around the new split between automated and human work.
Outcome
Routine requests are completed in one conversation, and human agents spend their time on the contacts that need them.

Detecting interconnect and SIM box fraud in near real time

Situation
An operator's rule-based revenue assurance system catches known fraud patterns days after the fact. Organized schemes such as SIM box and Wangiri fraud change faster than the rules do.
Approach
We bring call detail records, billing events, interconnect settlements and roaming records into one stream and apply anomaly detection and graph analysis to find linked fraud. Analysts get ranked cases with the supporting records, and confirmed cases feed back into the models.
Outcome
Fraud is caught while it is happening rather than at month-end, and the fraud team spends its time on confirmed cases instead of false leads.

One customer record across store, web, app and call centre

Situation
A retailer's ecommerce site, stores, app, loyalty program and call centre each hold their own customer records. A loyalty member who calls with a complaint is a stranger to the call centre.
Approach
We build an identity resolution service that matches customers across systems and assembles a single profile. That profile is served in real time through a governed API to every customer-facing system, with consent and privacy rules applied at the API.
Outcome
Every channel sees the same customer, with their purchases and history, and marketing works from one consented record instead of several conflicting ones.

Store-level demand forecasting that planners trust

Situation
A retailer's statistical forecasts no longer match real demand, so planners adjust thousands of SKU and store combinations by hand. Stockouts and markdowns are both rising.
Approach
We build forecasting models that combine sales history with promotions, weather, pricing and local events, and separate baseline demand from promotional lift. Forecasts feed the existing planning system, and planners can see which factors drove each forecast and override it with a reason.
Outcome
Planners manage exceptions instead of rewriting every forecast, and the business carries less excess stock while running out less often.

Building security testing into an ecommerce release pipeline

Situation
An online retailer ships code weekly but tests security once or twice a year with an outside penetration test. Checkout and payment APIs are its biggest exposure, and PCI DSS assessments keep raising findings.
Approach
We add static and dependency scanning, secrets detection and API security testing to the CI/CD pipeline, with thresholds the team agrees on. Developers get findings in their pull requests with guidance on fixing them, and the security team keeps a single view of open risk.
Outcome
Most vulnerabilities are caught before code reaches production, and the retailer goes into PCI DSS assessments with evidence from every release.

Connecting SCADA and historian data to ERP without opening the OT network

Situation
An upstream operator moves production data from SCADA and historians into its ERP and asset management systems through daily manual exports. Shutdowns reach the corporate operations centre by phone.
Approach
We design the integration to ISA-95 and IEC 62443, with a DMZ and one-way data flow so the OT network stays isolated. An API layer delivers validated historian data to the ERP and EAM, and alarm events go to the operations centre by severity. All changes run in planned maintenance windows with rollback plans.
Outcome
Production data reaches corporate systems automatically, shutdowns are visible to the operations centre straight away, and the export team moves on to analysis.

Condition-based maintenance for compressors and pumps

Situation
A midstream operator services compressors on a calendar. Some machines are maintained too often while others fail without warning, and each failure means unplanned downtime.
Approach
We bring vibration, temperature and process data into models trained on the operator's failure history, and generate maintenance recommendations with the likely failure mode. Recommendations create work orders in the existing maintenance system for a reliability engineer to approve.
Outcome
Maintenance follows equipment condition rather than the calendar, with fewer surprise failures and less work spent on machines that do not need it.
SCADAData historiansIEC 62443

Bringing safety data together to spot leading indicators

Situation
An operator's permits, near-miss reports, inspections and training records sit in separate systems. Incident investigations keep finding warning signs that were recorded but never connected.
Approach
We build an HSE application that brings these records together, uses language processing to pull common factors out of past incident reports, and highlights sites and activities where leading indicators are building up. Safety managers review and act on the alerts, and the application records the response.
Outcome
Safety leaders see where risk is building before an incident happens and can show what was done about each warning.

Predictive maintenance from vehicle telematics

Situation
A fleet operator and its dealer network deal with breakdowns as they happen. Vehicle telemetry is collected but nobody uses it to plan service.
Approach
We build a platform that takes in OBD-II and CAN bus data, runs it through models trained on the fleet's failure history, and predicts upcoming faults. Predictions reach fleet managers, dealers and drivers through a dashboard, a dealer portal and a mobile app.
Outcome
More service is booked ahead of a breakdown, dealers can plan parts and bays, and warranty claims come with the vehicle data to support them.

Seeing risk in the lower tiers of the supply chain

Situation
An automotive manufacturer knows its direct suppliers well but has little visibility into the tiers below them, where most disruptions start. Procurement finds out about problems when parts stop arriving.
Approach
We map the multi-tier supplier network from supplier declarations, financial data and logistics signals into a knowledge graph, and score suppliers for concentration and disruption risk. Alerts flow into the procurement systems and processes buyers already use, such as SAP Ariba, along with agreed playbooks for responding.
Outcome
Procurement sees single-source dependencies and early warning signs in time to qualify alternatives, instead of reacting once a line is at risk.

Portfolio NOI reporting without manual reconciliation

Situation
A commercial REIT runs Yardi Voyager for property management and a separate general ledger, with no governed connection between them. Property accountants spend each month-end reconciling the two by hand.
Approach
We define a shared data model for properties, leases, tenants and transactions before writing any integration code. An event-driven integration layer keeps both systems in step with continuous reconciliation, and a portfolio analytics platform reports NOI, occupancy and lease expiry from the governed data.
Outcome
Month-end close takes far less time, accountants move from reconciliation to analysis, and asset managers see portfolio figures as transactions happen instead of in a monthly snapshot.

Connecting building systems to work orders

Situation
A commercial property manager runs BMS, HVAC, access control and energy systems from several vendors across its buildings. None of them connect to the property management platform or the work order system.
Approach
We build cloud-hosted connectors for BACnet, Modbus and vendor APIs, map sensor data to spaces and equipment in the PMS, and give operations a cross-portfolio dashboard. Equipment condition thresholds raise work orders automatically, and energy use links to operating cost per square foot.
Outcome
Facilities teams respond to problems before tenants report them, maintenance follows equipment condition, and energy costs can be compared across every building.

A tenant portal connected to the property management system

Situation
A mixed-use developer handles maintenance requests by phone and email, collects rent through legacy ACH, and coordinates move-ins over email chains. Tenant satisfaction is falling and the operations team is buried in admin.
Approach
We build a tenant portal on defined API contracts with the PMS, so lease data, payment history and service requests come from the source systems. Online rent payments reconcile to the general ledger automatically, and standard maintenance requests become work orders without staff involvement.
Outcome
Tenants serve themselves for routine tasks, maintenance requests are handled faster, and the operations team gets its time back for work that needs a person.

Moving a claims processing platform to AWS

Situation
A health plan runs claims adjudication on ageing servers in a colocation facility, with batch jobs and a SQL Server database that only two people understand.
Approach
We map dependencies, build a HIPAA-aligned landing zone with Control Tower, and move the database to Amazon RDS with AWS Database Migration Service. Batch jobs move to AWS Batch and Step Functions, and existing EDI feeds are repointed and tested in parallel before cutover.
Outcome
Claims run on infrastructure defined in code, with audit logging in place from the first day and documented runbooks for the internal team.

A container platform for telecom order services

Situation
A carrier deploys its order and activation services by hand to virtual machines, and each release needs a weekend change window.
Approach
We build an Amazon EKS platform with Terraform, set up CI/CD pipelines with automated tests, and split the order service into containers behind an API layer. Order events flow through EventBridge and SQS to provisioning and billing.
Outcome
Releases move to routine daytime deployments with automated rollback, and the platform team can add services without new infrastructure tickets.

Connecting store, ecommerce and ERP order data on AWS

Situation
A retailer reconciles online and in-store orders against its ERP with overnight file transfers, so stock and refund data is a day behind.
Approach
We publish order, return and inventory events from the commerce platform and point-of-sale system to EventBridge, process them with Lambda, and post them to the ERP through its APIs. Failed messages go to a dead-letter queue with alerts to the support team.
Outcome
Stock and refund data reach the ERP during the day, and support staff can see and replay any message that failed.

A controlled Azure landing zone for a regional bank

Situation
A bank wants to move customer-facing applications to Azure, but its risk team will not approve anything without clear network boundaries, logging and access reviews.
Approach
We build an Azure landing zone with Azure Policy guardrails, private endpoints and Entra ID Privileged Identity Management for admin roles. Defender for Cloud and Microsoft Sentinel feed alerts to the security operations team, and access reviews run on a schedule.
Outcome
The risk team signs off on a platform where every control is defined in code and every admin action is logged and reviewable.

Sensor data from field sites into an Azure analytics platform

Situation
An operator collects pump and compressor readings in a historian at each site, and engineers export spreadsheets to spot equipment problems.
Approach
We stream readings through Azure IoT Hub and Event Hubs into a lakehouse, join them with maintenance records from SAP, and train failure-prediction models in Azure Machine Learning. Alerts create work orders in the maintenance system.
Outcome
Engineers see equipment health across sites in one place, and likely failures raise a work order before a shutdown.

Moving SAP and its interfaces to Azure

Situation
A parts supplier runs SAP on hardware that is out of support, with dozens of interfaces to plants, carriers and OEM customer portals.
Approach
We size the SAP environment on Azure, plan the move around production calendars and rebuild EDI and file interfaces on Logic Apps and Service Bus. Each interface is tested against the OEM and carrier endpoints before cutover.
Outcome
SAP runs on supported infrastructure, and every interface is documented, monitored and owned by a named team.

Store demand forecasting in BigQuery and Vertex AI

Situation
A retailer plans replenishment from spreadsheets built on weekly exports from its ERP and point-of-sale systems.
Approach
We replicate sales, inventory and promotions data into BigQuery, train store-and-item forecasts in Vertex AI, and write recommended order quantities back to the ERP for planners to approve.
Outcome
Planners work from one forecast tied to current sales, and the spreadsheet rebuild each week stops.

A tenant and maintenance app on Cloud Run

Situation
A property manager tracks maintenance requests through email and a shared inbox, and tenants have no way to see progress.
Approach
We build a tenant portal and staff app on Cloud Run with Firestore, connect it to the property management system through its API, and send request and work-order data to BigQuery for portfolio reporting.
Outcome
Tenants and staff see the same request status, and managers can compare response by building and vendor.

Consolidating service desks for a telecom operator

Situation
After an acquisition, a carrier runs two service desks on different tools, and network incidents get logged twice or not at all.
Approach
We move both desks onto one ServiceNow ITSM instance, agree a single incident and change process, and connect network monitoring so alarms create incidents against the right CMDB items.
Outcome
One queue, one change calendar and one record for each network incident, visible to both former teams.

Moving control testing into ServiceNow GRC

Situation
A lender tracks controls, test results and audit findings in spreadsheets, and evidence collection before each audit takes weeks of chasing.
Approach
We set up ServiceNow GRC with the control library mapped to the frameworks the lender reports against, schedule attestations, and pull evidence from Entra ID, the CMDB and vulnerability scans automatically.
Outcome
Control owners see what is due, auditors get evidence from one place, and gaps show up before the audit rather than during it.

A trusted CMDB for a hospital network

Situation
A hospital group cannot tell which servers and medical device gateways support its EHR, so change approvals rely on memory.
Approach
We run ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping across data centres and cloud accounts, build service maps for the EHR and lab systems, and set reconciliation rules for each data source.
Outcome
Change approvers see which clinical services a change touches before they approve it.

Dealer orders from Salesforce into SAP

Situation
A vehicle parts maker takes dealer orders in Salesforce, then staff re-key them into SAP and email order status back to dealers.
Approach
We build MuleSoft APIs that create sales orders in SAP from approved Salesforce orders using SAP BAPIs and IDocs, and send delivery and invoice status back to Salesforce. Errors go to a queue the sales operations team can work.
Outcome
Orders are entered once, and dealers see status in their portal without asking for it.

Service Cloud for tenant and owner requests

Situation
A property technology company handles tenant and owner requests across email, phone and a chat tool, with no shared history.
Approach
We set up Service Cloud with email-to-case, web chat and routing by property and request type, and connect it to the property management system so agents see leases and balances on the case.
Outcome
Agents answer from one screen, and managers can see request volumes and backlog by property.

Commercial loan onboarding in Salesforce

Situation
Relationship managers track commercial loan applications in Salesforce, but credit decisions and booking happen in separate systems with emailed documents.
Approach
We build an onboarding flow in Salesforce that collects documents, calls the credit decision system through MuleSoft, and passes approved loans to the core banking platform for booking. Every step is logged on the opportunity.
Outcome
Relationship managers and credit staff work from the same record, and the bank has a full history of each decision.

Rebuilding interfaces for an S/4HANA move

Situation
A midstream operator is moving from ECC to S/4HANA, and nobody has a full list of the interfaces to field ticketing, pipeline scheduling and banks.
Approach
We inventory every interface from IDoc, RFC and file logs, write a specification for each, and rebuild them on SAP Integration Suite with OData and IDoc adapters. Each one is tested against the system on the other end before cutover.
Outcome
The operator goes live on S/4HANA with a documented, monitored set of interfaces instead of scripts nobody owns.

A batch release app on SAP BTP

Situation
A pharmaceutical manufacturer reviews batch records on paper and enters release decisions into SAP afterwards, which slows shipments.
Approach
We build a batch review app on SAP BTP that pulls batch, quality and deviation data from S/4HANA, records reviewer sign-offs with an audit trail, and posts the usage decision back to SAP.
Outcome
Quality reviewers work from one screen with a complete audit trail, and released batches are available to ship as soon as they are approved.
